How to determine the species diet of a creature?

All living creatures are designed to exist in their environment and obtain suitable food as efficiently as possible. Nature has given each species unique tools that allow them to survive, find food, and adapt to the environment.

How does nature direct animals to their natural food?

Bees see ultraviolet light, and flowers have “nectar indicators” that are only visible in the UV spectrum. This makes the process of pollination and feeding perfectly coordinated.

Felines are natural hunters. Their lightning-fast reactions, night vision, and sharp claws allow them to catch prey in the dark without fail.

Wolves and canines cannot boast of their keen eyesight, but their sensitive sense of smell allows them to find carrion or identify a wounded animal from kilometers away.

Anteaters have a long sticky tongue that is ideal for extracting termites and ants from their nests. Their brains and sensory abilities are tuned to search for moving insects, not leaves, fruits or meat.

Each creature has a set of characteristics that are ideal for its natural way of eating. And if you carefully analyze the structure of the animal's body, you can understand exactly what food is intended for it by nature.

What does human anatomy say about its natural diet?

👀 Vision

Human eyes do not see ultraviolet light, but they are able to distinguish a rich palette of colors and shades. This allows us to determine the degree of ripeness of fruits, to find the ripest and most delicious fruits. For comparison, most mammals (except primates) have vision close to black and white, which makes them less sensitive to the color of food

👃 Smell

Our reaction and sense of smell are much worse than those of predators. But why do we need a keen sense of smell if a mango cannot run away and hide? We notice the fruit from afar, and then bring it to our nose to make sure it is ripe and edible

🦷 Teeth and digestion

Predators have powerful jaws and high stomach acidity, which allows them to digest meat, even if they swallow it in large pieces.

A person who swallows an unchewed piece of meat will face a problem - it will not be completely digested and will begin to decompose, releasing toxins

🐄 Ruminant herbivores (cows, goats, deer) have four stomachs necessary for digesting the tough fiber of grass. A person has one stomach, which is not able to effectively process grass and leaves. Most of the fiber is not digested and is only partially broken down by bacteria in the last sections of the intestine

🐭 Rodents have continuously growing teeth, which require constant grinding. They are forced to gnaw nuts, roots and hard seeds.

Humans do not have such an adaptation - we have to go to the dentist if we eat unsuitable food, overloading our teeth

What foods really cause appetite?

If you think about what makes us salivate and have a natural desire to eat a product in its original form, everything becomes obvious:

❌ Grass, raw meat, freshly dug potatoes - all these products do not cause appetite in humans. Their natural taste is unpleasant, they require additional processing to become edible.

🔥 Heat treatment, salt and seasonings correct this "drawback", but they do not change the essence - these products are not originally intended for humans.

🍎 Fruits have always attracted us - since childhood, we are drawn to bright, aromatic and juicy fruits. Their smell causes natural pleasure, and the taste perfectly matches our biological needs.

Fruits are the ideal food for humans. They contain all the necessary moisture, energy and nutrients, while not overloading the digestion and do not require processing.

Nature does not make mistakes - you just need to listen to your true feelings.
